John Meehan, Founder

The story

Design and code, in one head.

John Meehan builds websites the way a good architect draws a house. He starts with how people will actually live in it.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Computing and Digital Media at Atlantic Technological University. The course put programming and visual design in the same room, and John left convinced they should never have been separated in the first place. A beautiful site that breaks on a phone is a failure. So is a fast one that nobody remembers.

Since graduating he has founded Sapphire Road, a design and software practice built on that conviction. The studio gives businesses everything they need to operate in 2026. It starts with an identity and a website, and it carries on through the marketing and the custom software that keep a modern business running.

Clients work with John directly. The person who sketches your logo is the person who writes your code, and he is the one who answers when something needs to change.

How John works

Four rules for the road.

  1. Design and code in one head.

Every decision about how something looks is made knowing exactly how it will be built.

  2. Nothing from a template.

Every layout and every line of code is made for the business it serves.

  3. Plain answers.

You will always know what is being built and what it costs, in words rather than jargon.

  4. Built to last past launch.

Every site is handed over with the training to run it, and John stays on call after the launch.

On the name

Why Sapphire Road.

A sapphire is rare and very hard to scratch. It is the kind of thing people keep for a lifetime, and that is what a brand should be.

A road is how you get somewhere. Businesses do not arrive fully formed. They travel, one decision at a time, and the right studio should know the way.

Put the two together and you have the promise behind every project. Work that lasts, and a clear route to where you want to go.
